If your
kids are on a sports team, make sure they drink some water before,
after and during the game. Don’t overdo it or they could become
uncomfortable. Some coaches tell the players not to drink sodas for at
least 24 hours before a practice or game because soft drinks are
dehydrating. Drinking enough water keeps the joints lubricated and
improves athletic performance. If children perspire a lot or work out
vigorously or for an extended time, they may need a sports drink or
fruit juice mixed half and half with water to replace sodium and
potassium.
