Veggies in a FlashSome families skip vegetables because they think they take too much time to prepare. Try these fast ideas.
Buy pre-washed, chopped veggies: carrots, broccoli, celery or green beans.
Buy veggies that are great raw and donít need much prep: cherry tomatoes, sugar snap peas, cucumbers and pepper slices.
Use frozen veggies. No washing, no chopping, no waste and they cook in minutes. Simply put frozen veggies in a microwave safe bowl. Add 2-3 tablespoons of water. Cook for 3-5 minutes.
Salad bar veggies: go to the grocery salad bar and get a few pre-chopped items.
Microwaved baked potatoes: wash well, poke with a fork a few times, wrap in a paper towel and microwave on high about 4 minutes per potato.
Raw veggies and dip: One of the best ways to get people to eat their vegetables is to put a plate of raw veggies and dip in front of them before dinner. People are often hungry and will scarf these down, making them less likely to overeat at dinner.
When you go out to eat, ask for double veggies on your sandwiches and extra veggies on your pizza, Mexican food and Asian stir fry dishes.
