There
are about 20 minutes of commercials in an hour of TV. Reach for your
toes instead of the remote control when a commercial comes on. If you
have time to watch TV, you have time to exercise.
- Use
commercial breaks as an opportunity to do pushups or other exercises
that take your eyes permanently from the TV. Keep the volume on if you
find yourself constantly looking to see if the commercials are over.
- Stretch during commercials.
- Some
good exercises to do during commercials are push-ups, sit-ups, jumping
jacks, running in place, squat thrusts, wall sit. Have contests with
your kids.
- Put a treadmill or bike in front of the TV.
- Sit on a stability ball instead of the couch while watching the program to strengthen core muscles. Bounce a little.
